All regular and part-time faculty, staff, and student employees are required to take Compliance & Ethics training.
All 2021 compliance training is due Friday, April 30, 2021. Normally the training window would be 60 days, but it has been extended for this year.
This year’s core compliance training assignments include the following:
  • FERPA:  Confidentiality of Student Records
  • Run, Hide, Fight:  Active Threat Overview
  • Child Abuse Reporting Review
  • Equal Opportunity, Sexual Misconduct, and Title IX
  • Suicide Prevention:  Ask, Listen, Refer
  • Cybersecurity Awareness
The following courses may be assigned based on your job function.
  • Providing Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities (Faculty, GTAs, and Instructors)
  • PCI DSS Compliance Awareness (those who work with credit card terminals)
  • Clery Act and Campus Security (Campus Security Officers)
  • HIPAA Basics:  Uses and Disclosures of PHI (those with access to medical records)
  • Fighting Identity Theft:  The Red Flags Rule (those who work with accounts covered by the Red Flags Rule)
  • GLBA Review (those with access to student financial data)

The easiest way to locate your required Compliance & Ethics courses is by referring to the "Reminder for UA Compliance Training" monthly email sent to your MyBama email address. Monthly reminder emails include unique links to access specific compliance training courses.

You can also locate required Compliance & Ethics training courses on your My Courses and Playlists page in UA LMS. A crimson UA C&E logo indicates a required training course under your Not Started, In Progress, or Completed sections.

In addition, your Training Dashboard provides easy access tabs for courses with upcoming Deadlines and In Progress.

Some Compliance & Ethics training can only be accessed by self-enrollment through the Compliance & Ethics Training Catalog page, which can be accessed through the left-hand navigation menu. Supervisors and department leadership will provide additional directions if you are required to self-enroll in a Compliance & Ethics training course.

Most courses can be completed in 30 minutes or less.

Compliance training is available through UA LMS.  To access the system:

  1. Login to myBama.
  2. Click on the Campus Life Tab.
  3. Click on the UA LMS logo.
Because this group can be somewhat fluid and there may be a lag in getting their records updated when their working arrangement ends, they were not automatically given 2021 training assignments. However, all individuals who are actively working on our campus or in UA programs full or part-time must complete mandatory training by April 30. Supervisors are responsible for informing these individuals about their training requirements and ensuring that the training is completed.  This group will not receive automated reminders from UA LMS. Since this group did not receive automated assignments, they will need to self-enroll in the required courses. Please see the instructions below.   To access Compliance Training in UA LMS:
  1. Log into myBama.
  2. Click on the Campus Life tab.
  3. Click on the UA LMS logo.
  4. From the UA LMS home page, find the red Compliance & Ethics Training catalog and click “View Courses.”
  5. All available 2021 Compliance Training courses will be displayed, but most people will only need to take 6-7 courses.   Consult the table on the Compliance Training webpage to determine which courses are required.  Click the course title to enroll.
Yes! UA LMS is available through a mobile app called Go.Learn. Using the mobile app will provide a much better user experience for smartphone and tablet users.  Visit the UA Moble App page to learn more.

No.  This year's slate of courses have been redeveloped to focus on streamlining content and include UA-specific information.
Certain laws and University's policies require training on specific topics to be conducted on an annual basis.
The 2020 compliance training assignment was sent out in January with a due date in March.  Due to the pandemic, the deadline was extended through the end of the year.  The 2021 compliance training assignment will go out in early February with a due date in April.  This will become the standard timeline for compliance training moving forward.
Compliance training is assigned to all active users based on data imported from Banner.  Sometimes it can take a while for retirees to cycle out of the system.  Please contact your department to check on the status of your ePA.
